Scan a QR code from an image

Got a QR code in a screenshot, PDF export, or photo on your computer? Drop it here — or just paste it with Ctrl+V — and read what's inside. Decoding happens on your device, so private links and Wi-Fi passwords stay private.

When a desktop QR scanner is handy

  • Reading a QR code someone sent you as an image or in a PDF.
  • Checking where a code points before you print thousands of flyers.
  • Recovering a Wi-Fi password from a code saved on your laptop.
  • Verifying a suspicious code before opening it on your phone.

Frequently asked questions

Can I scan a QR code that's on my screen?

Yes. Take a screenshot (Windows: Win+Shift+S, Mac: Cmd+Shift+4), then paste it here with Ctrl+V or Cmd+V.

Is the image uploaded?

No. The image is decoded by JavaScript inside your browser and never leaves your device.

Why can't it find my QR code?

Blurry photos, very low contrast, heavy perspective, or a code that is tiny in a large image can all cause misses. Crop tighter around the code and try again.

Is it safe to open the link?

Always read the decoded address before opening it. Fake QR codes stuck over real ones (“quishing”) are a common phishing trick.
